A Reflective Photobomb

Bligh Water, Fiji

My favorite dive visiting the warm waters of Fiji was a shallow one atop a massive pinnacle where I got to hang out with some inquisitive photobombers.

As I cruised along shooting the reef, these moon wrasses (Thalassoma lunare) took an interest in their reflections on the dome port, the window on the back of the camera housing, and even my mask. They would swoop in suddenly to ruin many a photo, sending me scrambling to turn my strobes inward to light them up before they lost interest in their reflected images. Their curiosity was ridiculously entertaining and they quickly became my favorite subjects of the trip.

Hopefully I'll get to meet them again in warmer water one day, this time with video rolling to capture their antics in action.
